Why we created this tool

There are few tools that effectively communicate the benefits to businesses for better migrant worker recruitment practices. Instead, the existing material often tries to shame businesses into treating workers better. As a result, awareness has increased but many businesses do not see the value in recruitment compliance.

TERA’s research tells a different story. Through an extensive review of industry literature and conversations with industry insiders [LINK REPORT], we found that a compelling argument for change was missing from the international community’s anti-slavery toolkit. We found a need for a business case in a language businesses understand.

The result was a set of three products that make the case for ethical recruitment in commerical terms. A narrative report and downloadable handout call attention to the increasingly irresistible links between competitiveness and ethical compliance, the handout challenging businesses to change or perish. This interactive online tool provokes business stakeholders to take the next step: to identify where investments will better the business and, in doing so, also better migrant workers’ lives.

With the support of our partners, we can continue to expand our efforts to tackle the exploitation of the migrant workers. Contact us today to find out how your organisation can help us keep workers safe and create sweeping industry change.
